As we begin spelling lists for the year, a good resource to know about is Spelling City. This is a great website that provides activities to practice spelling words in a fun and engaging way. Each week, I will enter the spelling list we are using in the classroom, which allows you to access the list's activities at home with your student. Some of these activities require a paid subscription; HOWEVER, many activities are free. I recommend using the free activities! If your child needs (or wants) different activities, feel free to pay for a subscription. I think, though, that most students will enjoy and benefit from the free activities, and you shouldn't need to pay for a subscription.
Spelling City does not replace the activity I send home on Monday. One activity each week is required as Spelling Homework. I will attach a page to your child's Homework page with information about the activity, including the due date.
First grade families: Our curriculum starts with skill-building activities prior to full spelling lists. Keep your eyes open for a spelling list to come home in a few weeks. Until then, your child does not have an activity to complete or words to study.
TO ACCESS SPELLING CITY: http://www.spellingcity.com/SCSMissWilson/
You should not need any log in to access the free activities. Let me know if you have any questions about how to use Spelling City! :)
Happy Spelling!
God Bless,
Miss Wilson
